Program

Sacred Heart School provides before and after school child care. This is offered from 7:00 am until school begins and after school until 6:00 p.m. ESS is open to all students at Sacred Heart and is used for many situations:

  • Working parents
  • Parents who are unavoidably delayed
  • Many sport practices start late in the afternoon and students come to ESS until their practices starts.
  • Some students come to finish homework or a school project

Some students use it as a time to play with friends. Morning ESS usually supervises 20-25 students before school. It is located in the Foyer by the main office. There are two ESS staff members there to supervise the children while they play games, finish homework or play in the gym.

Afternoon ESS supervises on average 45-50 students after school. Since the numbers are larger than morning, we separate two age groups for check-in. The two groups are Kindergarten - Third grade and Fourth - Eighth grade.

Activities & Supplies

ESS has a large supply of arts and crafts materials, sports equipment and games at our disposal. We have the unique opportunity to be able to offer the library as a place for study and computer work. Should children complete their homework, they have a variety of choices in activities from playing in the gym, outside on the big toys, particpating in that days arts and crafts lesson in the foyer, playing quietly on the computers in the Library lounge or watching a video. Our goal is to provide more than just child care. We hope to enrich our students' after school experience with tutoring, encouragement and character building exercise!
