Sacred Heart School Commission
February 12 , 2008 Meeting
- Principal’s Report: Dr. Wittmann provided the Commission with an update.
- Accreditation: The Accreditation team will arrive for their three-day Accreditation visit the week of February 19.
- Moore Theatre: An environmental remediation work has been completed in the Moore Theater and the mold removed. The new boiler and HV system should remedy the problem on a long-term basis.
- Auction Fund-an-Item:The Auction Fund-an-Item is the “Staff Academy” for professional development and will honor our teachers and staff by funding attendance at workshops, courses, and conferences.
- Finance: Denise Merle reported on SHS finances.
- Budget Planning: The budget process for the 2008-2009 school year is underway. A proposed budget was submitted by the Commission to the Parish Finance Council. Finance Council requested some changes, which have been made. The revised proposed budget will be presented to Parish Finance Council. A subcommittee for long-term budget/finance planning will be formed.
- Parents’ Club:Stephanie Casey reported about the work of Parents’ Club.
- Mandatory Fee and Obligations: Families’ participation in the mandatory fundraising, fees, and obligations will be reviewed to determine compliance. Those families who are behind on their obligations will be notified and asked to remedy the situation.
- Guest speaker: Julie Metzker will speak on Parenting Adolescents on January 16 at 7 pm in the Church.
- Auction: The Auction Committee is hard at work. They will provide on-line updates and information. Procurement is underway. Underwriting is begin secured.
- Technology: Tom Phillips will be meeting with Pam Helberg to discuss SHS technology status and technology needs.
- Development: Lisa Napoli O’Toole reported on the Endowment and the Annual Fund.
- Endowment: On February 14th a presentation on the SHS Endowment will be made to the Carpe Diem Seniors group in the parish. The theme is “Establishing a Legacy”.
- Annual Fund: A letter to non-school Parishioners seeking financial support for the SHS Annual Fund was sent out during Catholic School’s week. Renee Doyle will follow that letter with a phone-a-thon to Parishioners .
- Master Plan: Greg Russell and Fr. Pat Ritter reported that Fundraising Consultants for the Capital Campaign are being selected. The Consultants will help SH evaluate its giving patterns/history/capacity. The Capital Campaign will begin later this year. The SHS HV/boiler replacement will hopefully begin this summer. It is not part of the Capital Campaign and will be financed out of School and Parish savings.
