- Finance:
- John Carrosino reported SHS has accumulated some savings because of cost-consciousness
- Additional unanticipated income from ESS due to more efficient computer check-in system
- Efforts to increase teacher salaries continue
- Decreased enrollment, increased need for financial aid, and increases in teacher salaries/benefits will impact budget.
- Parents’ Club:
- Stephanie Casey reported that the annual back-to-school coffee was well attended
- New families have been paired with “buddy” families to help with transition
- New fundraising chair is Ellen Tobin
- Fundraising requirements this year are $3000 in SCRIP purchases OR $500 in magazine &/or wrapping paper purchases
- Auction is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Westin
- Facilities:
- Fr. Pat reported about the SH School and Parish Campus Master Plan
- Steering Committee met several times over the summer to refine the Master Plan
- Rather than “phases”, the Steering Committee has established “priorities” to determine which projects will be undertaken first
- First “Priority” is Safety and Security of all who come to SH
- First “Priorities” of Safety and Security are:
- Replace the School’s aging boiler with a modern heating and ventilation system. The current boiler is over 55 years old.
- Move School offices to the School entrance so each guest is greeted.
- Move two middle school classrooms out of the Parish Center and into the School. This will enable the school to conduct a security “lock down” with all students in one building.
- Replace the aging Parish Administration/Pastoral Services building with a safe, modern building that will ensure continuous operations and safety of personnel, visitors and records. This will require that the existing Administration/Pastoral Services building be torn down. The new building will be slightly to the East of the current Administration/Pastoral Services building where the current garages are situated. The driveway will be moved to the West to accommodate this change.
- Policy and Procedure Manual:
- SHS Policy and Procedure manual is being revised
- Changes in “bullying” policies being drafted
Please direct School Commission questions to Greg Russell (Chairperson).
